HURL Elkhorn 50 Mile/50 K Ultramarathons - Saturday, August 4th, 2012

Welcome to the HURL Elkhorn 23 K Home Page!
The 23 k course includes 18 k on technical single track trails and 5k of dirt Forest Service road. No pavement, just dirt, rocks, forest, and remote meadows in the Elkhorn Mountains. Trail sections are all closed to motorized vehicles. With 3,000 feet of elevation gain and several small stream crossings, this course provides a glimpse of what trail ultra running is like, only shorter. You still get the incredible Montana scenery (just not as much), and possible wildlife sightings, and you will likely encounter bovines.

There are 3 three well stocked aid stations on the course, the longest distance between aid stations is 7 k. Our awesome volunteers either backpack or horseback aid station supplies into most of these aid stations. The race starts and finishes at Crystal Creek Campground, where primitive camping is available.

Entries are limited to 150 total runners between all three races, which are now all full. Waiting list entrants can fill out the pdf entry form and mail it to Steve.

All finishers receive a print of Elkhorn Mountain related art, drawn each year by a local runner.  With your entry fee you also get a technical T-shirt and plenty to eat and drink once you cross the finish line.

See Course Maps for more information.
