Out of Town Group run - Saturday May 19, 2012
The next out of town group run will be Saturday May 19th.
We will park at the Hadley Park trailhead located just off Highway 69 - right side of highway - around 7 miles from Boulder (there is a sign). Let's meet at 8:30 a.m. with the intent to be running by 8:45.
This unscripted run features a 3 mile off-trail climb, gopher holes, elk trails, cow trails, two-track road, a couple of water tanks, lots of mini-ridges to ascend, and a teeth rattling three-plus mile descent on a two-track road. The views on top are fantastic; Crow and Elkhorn peaks to the north and the 'roots' to the south.
Charlie clocked this run at just under 15 miles; there is a make-it-up-as-you-go element to this run so the distance will vary! Figure on four to five hours depending on pace and breaks.
Disclaimer #1: This is not a run for those who don't like to run off-trail, much of the time we will be going free-style.
Disclamer #2: This run lends itself to sticking together (see Disclaimer #1) so those that want to go real fast without any breaks might want to skip this one.
Disclaimer #3: Run organizer is not responsible for making sure everyone finds there way back to the start. Just kidding, its really open country on top and pretty easy to navigate. The worst that can happen is you will end up in Whitehall or wonder around in Hadley Park for a few hours before dropping back down to the highway.
