Novas Cross Country

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

DATES: September 29-November 8

DAYS/TIMES: Practices are on Monday and Thursday each week. Practice starts 5:30 p.m. and finishes at 6:45 p.m. Practice times will shift 15-30 minutes earlier later in the season to adjust for less daylight hours.

PRACTICE LOCATIONS

Our first practice is at Centennial Park, but we will meet at various location in the Helena area – Spring Meadow Lake State Park, Ten Mile Creek State Park, Centennial Park, South Hills Disc Golf Course, and Vigilante Stadium.

WHO?

Novas XC is primarily intended for elementary- and middle school-aged children who have a short scholastic season. Ages 7-18 are welcome to join, but high school athletes should email novasxctf@gmail.com to determine whether it’s a good option for them. All scholastic athletes must complete their school season before joining practices.

COST

Season fees for the 2025 season are $50 and includes meet fees for the USATF Montana Junior Olympic Championships in Helena and 2025 Nike Cross Regionals Meet in Spokane. Additionally a USATF membership is required and costs $31.80 annually, available at www.usatf.org.

  • Coaching at two practice sessions per week beginning September 29 and continuing through November 8. 
  • State Junior Olympic Meet Registration Fee (Nov. 8, Helena)
  • Nike Cross Regionals Grade School and Middle School Race (Nov. 15 in Spokane, WA)
  • National Junior Olympic Meet Registration Fee (Dec. 13, Shelbyville, Indiana)
  • Team singlet/jersey

  • 9-10: 3,000 meters
  • 11-12: 3,000 meters
  • 13-14: 4,000 meters
  • 15-16: 5,000 meters
  • 17-18: 5,000 meters
NOTE: Ages are based on the current year. Example: If an athlete turns 11 at any time during the current year- Jan. 1-Dec. 31 – they compete in the 11-12 age division.
