Events
HVR hosts several races in the Helena area every year, and also organizes Helena’s men’s and women’s teams for the Montana Cup.

| JOTF | June 19-20, 2026 | Youth Track Meet | The 2026 USATF Montana Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships will take place in Butte. This event is for youth ages 7-18. |
| Augúst Trail Race | August 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM | 5k Trail Race | 56th running of “The Augúst – Montana’s Second Oldest Footrace.” 5k trail run (mostly dirt). Starts at 7:00 PM at Spring Meadow Resources Pavilion, 2850 Broadwater Ave. Fundraiser for local high school cross-country teams. | Vig Scrimmage | August 20, 2026 at 12:15 PM | 1 Mile Track Time Trial | The Vig Scrimmage is a one-mile time-trial which takes place annually at Vigilante Stadium. Test yourself against the clock! |
| Mount Helena Run | September 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM | 5.6 Mile Trail Race | This 5.6 mile course starts on historic Last Chance Gulch in downtown Helena. It quickly changes from urban running to mountain trail running in Mt. Helena City Park. The course takes runners to the top of Mt. Helena, 1,300 feet above the starting line, and offers outstanding views of the City of Helena, Prickly Pear Valley, and Elkhorn and Belt Mountains. The course then descends back to the finish area on Last Chance Gulch. |
| Helena Sun Run | October 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM | 5k & 1 Mile Road Race | A 5 kilometer run and 1 mile walk and bicycle parade to support clean energy and awareness of climate solutions in Montana’s capital. All funds raised are devoted to purchasing solar photovoltaic arrays for Helena-area schools. |
| Montana Cup | October 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM (Billings) | 5k-8k XC | A cross-country event on a new and unique course every year, rotating around the state. All courses are between 5k and 8k. This is a team event which brings together runners from seven regions, associated with Montana’s seven largest cities. Runners compete for individual places, and also for traveling team trophies – the “Montana Cup” and the “Masters Cup”. |

| Turkey Trot | November 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM (Helena) | 1k/5k/10k Road Race | Now in its 5th decade, the annual Helena Turkey Trot is a fun run / fundraiser to celebrate the holiday and support local charities.
